WHO WE HELP 04 / 04

More connection.
Less going it alone.

Family life is full of love, change, and complicated moments. Support for parents and families can create room to understand one another, strengthen relationships, and find practical ways forward.

CARE FOR PARENTS & FAMILIES

Strong families have
room to grow.

Even caring, connected families go through seasons when things feel hard. A child’s big emotions, a parent’s exhaustion, a change in routine, or repeated misunderstandings can leave everyone feeling stuck.

Working together can help families understand what is happening beneath the surface, build clearer communication, and practice ways of responding that reflect their values and needs.

HOW WE CAN HELP

The things we can
make room for.

Families come in many forms, and so do the challenges they face. Areas of support may include:

Parenting through big feelings

Responding to difficult moments with steadiness, structure, and connection.

Communication & conflict

Finding ways to listen, repair, and move beyond the same repeated arguments.

Transitions at home

Adapting to school changes, shifting roles, new routines, and family stress.

Parent confidence

Feeling more supported, less reactive, and clearer about what helps your child.

WHAT SESSIONS CAN LOOK LIKE

Support that considers
the whole picture.

Parent and family work can look different depending on ages, concerns, and goals. Amy’s background as an educator and counselor informs a thoughtful, collaborative approach.

  1. 01

    Understand the pattern

We explore what is happening, where things get difficult, and the strengths your family already brings.

  2. 02

    Practice new responses

Work may focus on communication, parenting strategies, emotional skills, and practical ways to reconnect.

  3. 03

    Make change sustainable

The aim is to find approaches that make sense in the real rhythm of home life, not just in a session.

A NOTE ON PCIT

Specialized care is part of the vision.

Amy is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Makeway hopes to offer dedicated PCIT services in the future, but is not currently scheduling PCIT. Other parent and family support formats will also be confirmed before opening.

A NOTE FROM MAKEWAY

The next chapter
starts with care.

Makeway is taking shape in Hood River, Oregon. Details about scheduling and getting started will be shared once the practice is ready to welcome clients.
